I have written in the past about why I ‘date’ my son. The word date is one that we use to categorize our solo adventures, but by ‘date’, I really mean spending one-one-one time together. Check out our date to Red Mango to celebrate Fall, and get some ideas for some other simple ‘mom & son date’ ideas!

A Mom & Son Date to Red Mango to Celebrate Fall

As a busy mom of three, I’m often expecting him to be the big kid and helper, and relying on him for more than I should. I forget to notice that he’s still just a kid; one that’s growing and changing rapidly, and in the blink of an eye, it’s all going by way too fast.

When we spend one on one time together, I notice how tall he’s gotten, how his face has thinned, and the thickness of his hair. I love to soak in every second of his laugh as if I’ve never heard it before. And, each time, he gets lost in conversation, unveiling thoughts that I’d never have imagined he had.

“As long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.”

There are so many simple places to go on a ‘mom & son date’, and a trip for frozen yogurt is hands down, one of our favorites.  Red Mango is on the top of all moms’ lists, as the frozen yogurt chain boasts a commitment to using only the best all-natural ingredients for their frozen yogurt, smoothies and parfaits (along with no high fructose corn syrup in the yogurt!).

A mom and son date is always a reason to find something small (or large) to celebrate – for this trip to Red Mango, it was to celebrate Fall! I’m typically a ‘pumpkin in the fall all the way’ kind of person, but this time the Banana Chai was calling my name, and didn’t disappoint! I love the fruity, Fall flavor without all of the sweetness. (Don’t worry, if you’re looking for classic Fall, they have Roasted Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Spice smoothies new this year too – also all natural, made with coconut milk, and gluten free!).
My ‘date’ can’t resist a cup of frozen yogurt with toppings piled on top. When we go out for frozen yogurt as a family, we have a 3-topping max rule to cut down on arguments and cost in the store, but on a mom and son date, the sky’s the limit for toppings, a major extra perk!

And, what’s a date with a 6 year old without a Snapchat session…
