Kids can learn so much from a book. Whenever I am trying to teach a new concept like accountability or responsibility, or emphasize a point, I turn to the library and grab a kids book. These books about persistence and problem solving and excellent for motivating kids who might feel like giving up.

Books about Persistence and Problem Solving
Grit, persistence, critical thinking, problem solving…these are all buzzwords in parenting right now, and for good reason. These are really the skills that will carry kids through childhood, into adolescence, and into adulthood. And the truth is, it’s never too early to foster these traits.
For some kids, these might come naturally, but for others that might not be the case. A great way to demonstrate just how important these traits are, and how beneficial they can be, is by reading books.
Kids connect with characters in a book and they can imagine themselves in those situations. One of my absolute favorite books about not giving up, is The Girl Who Thought in Pictures, the story of Temple Grandin. Maybe it’s my past experience working with kids with Autism, or maybe it’s the joy I receive from watching my spirited boy embrace who he and and think out of the box, but I just adore the message in this book.
Check it out, along with some of these other great books about persistence and solving a problem.
